Frame Member Selection

I have truss designs and I want to make variations with different frame member sizes.  It seems that other are currently seeking efficient workflows for this. 

Currently I make a copy of a master file and manually go in and update the frame member sizes.

I use and excel file to define parameters. Is it possible to drive frame member selection from an excel spreadsheet?  Is there a different method you can suggest?

I havent looked into changing frame section sizes via the API  but I did a quick search and found this

It seems the autodesk response in 2020 is that there is no API for frame generator which kind of kills that idea off sorry.

While there is no API,you can sometimes work around this using send keys and mouse clicks to automate the selection dialog. Not exactly the most stable but it can get the job done. You would need to see what is possible with tabs first and 
If a mouse click is need bring that in. 

I did see this post, I was able to follow some of it but a lot went straight over the🔝
