External data source to drive constraint

Is it doable to have and external Nob or level drive a constraint in inventor?

Say i get position data over a serial-port from a external pot. I have a program to capture the data.

Can i drive a constraint i inventor with this?

Use case is open or close a claw or a gripper with a physical device.

I think this will be a good help while modeling around a gripper.

I think this should be do-able if you can capture the data and then sent it to the right constraint(s) but you will need to manage it with events I guess each time the data captured changes it should drive the constraint.

If you can manage that driving the constraint via an application is not hard.

Yea a small micro controller and a python program can get the data without a problem.

But can i get a pointer on how to pipe this in to inventor?
