Excel linked with BOM

Is there a way to link a custom Excel sheet to an assembly BOM?

So that when a part in the assembly is changed, the Excel sheet that contains that part with-in the list is automatically updated

This would be tricky.. What if you change the part and the assembly document is not open?

Also, it would be expensive in resources usage. So I would not recommend it.

Best to do a synchronization at the end to update the excel.
