Edge banding

What is the best way to do edge banding without woodwork for inventor? My company downloaded the trial version for inventor 2020, but decided to not go with it. Would it be best to just fillet the edges?

Thanks!

You can use the sweep command, and pick the edge of the woodwork shape as a path.

Start with your actual woodwork piece,

create a sketch at one cornder/edge/midpoint (anywhere there is a point node), best to make your edge banding profile orient to the wood piece at that node.

run sweep, pick the profile of the edge band (sketch region), then pick the edge of the woodwork to follow.  Make sure to not use the join option (use new solid)

Then you can separate the two into different CAD files.

You may be able to even turn the edge band CAD file into its own 'sheet metal' part, give it appropriate thickness, and flatten it.  That will give you a sweep length.  However, we also have a sweep length ilogic on here you can use to pull the path length from the sweep via code.

woodwork for inventor generated BOM and in it actually from the object it's own thickness.  so we need some tool to run on the edge of the part but also press it by the thickness of it's own. in this case Inventor BOM will have both proper part dimension and Edge material thickness.
