Customizable Bill of Materials Export

Hello,

We currently use AutoDesk Inventor as a design software for fabricating miscellaneous and ornamental metals. Is there a way to save custom settings for the BOM excel export? We are attempting to streamline our processes and perform an import into fabsuite; however, currently our designer has to manually add the excel tabs needed for our imports on each assembly and sub-assembly.

Is there a way to save a template and/or some sort of setting so that this only has to be done once?

You could always use iLogic to export it however you like

I'm afraid I am unfamiliar with iLogic. Is this an additional software or is it a feature already available within Inventor 2014? I am trying to figure out what we would need to implement in order to have BOM excel file exports be generated automatically from Inventor.

Not sure if this is possible, but looking to import into Fabsuite with least amount of manual data entry needed between the two programs. I can get fabsuite to accept an excel file generated by Inventor as an import, but we currently have to add new column headings with each assembly and sub-assembly entered into Inventor.

Any info would help. Thanks!

Hi, iLogic is part of Inventor, you can find it in Ribbon under "Manage" tab.

There are many code examples of how to export BOM, just search "BOM export" here in Inventor Customization.

Consider using "Accept as Solution" / "Kudos" if you find this helpful.
