Cannot import a Sheet Metal Rule

I've created some rules for various grades of sheet materials but once I have an existing ipt file open or have imported a Rule into a new ipt file, I cannot (or can no longer) import any of them.

An error box appears with the text:

Error loading file 'file:///C:/Users/Fred Bloggs/AppData/Local/Autodesk/Inventor 2015/Preferences/1.20mm Mild Steel.styxml'.

Cannot find reference to Colors style named 'Semi-Polished' in file:///C:/Users/Fred Bloggs/AppData/Local/Autodesk/Inventor 2015/Preferences/1.20mm Mild Steel.styxml.

Style 'Materials:Steel, Mild' has not been loaded from file:///C:/Users/Fred Bloggs/AppData/Local/Autodesk/Inventor 2015/Preferences/1.20mm Mild Steel.styxml.

I'm sure it's just a minor oversight in the settings somewhere but I'm lost.  I can't see how to alter the Colour Style before exporting the Rule (which seems to be the issue).

The screen shots show the imported Rule in a new part (#1).  If I create another part, I cannot import the same or anmy other rule (#2).

Anyone else encountered this & resolved it?

Hi, can you share your code and the styles file?

Why don't you import these materials to your template files?

Consider using "Accept as Solution" / "Kudos" if you find this helpful.

That's a good idea.  Sometimes, wood & trees etc.  I'll have a go & report back.  Styles file is attached.

So your workflow is:

1) Start Inventor

2) Open file

3) Import these styles (no problem)

4) Open another file

5) Import styles (error)

...

6) Close Inventor

7) Open Inventor

8) Open file (4)

9) Import styles (no problem)

Am I right? It looks like it fails to import the color schema, because it already exists in Inventor atm. (but not in the file tho.).

If it is so, I'd suggest separate the color and the material style into different styles' files and import them separetly (the color first ofc.).

Or it might be caused by the "1:" in the styles' file, as the name of the color style there is "1:Semi-Polished" instead of "Semi-Polished".

You can also try to change this.

Btw. You have nicely covered your username in attached screenshots(for reasons), but you have copied it here on forum within the error message (your first post) Smiley LOL
