BOM part number edit within .iam not staying applied

Anonymous

I have an assembly file which I am trying to modify the part numbers on. The way I usually do this is by opening the BOM within the .iam and then clicking in the "part number" cell and changing ti to what I what it to be. I also do this for the description cells too. I then press done, hit save and the .iam's and .ipt's of my top level assembly will be updated as per the BOM edits I have made

I am now using Inventor 2018 and I am trying this exact process and it does not seem to be working. It allows me the edit the part number cells and descriptions but does retain these edits after I press done and save. It seems to be a problem related to this particular .iam model as I did a test on a basic assembly and the method described above worked fine?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I have a co-worker who is also running into this issue.

Mroe specifically, he is trying to change thing in the PartsOnly BOM, and after the cells are change, as soon as exit is pressed, next time the BOM is opened, things do no have the fields filled in.

Hello @Anonymous and @MechMachineMan,

Sorry for the inconvenience.

This is a known issue in inventor 2018 because of Dev Expres upgrade which happens when BOM view list is long enough to show scroll bar.

The issue was fixed and will be included in near release. Before that, I have a not-so-good interim work around: Enlarge BOM dialog enough to make sure the row still shows in the active view after name change.

Any idea when this will be released? I would have to have a monitor that is 3 ft tall to get the whole BOM in the same window. I guess short of an extra large monitor the laborious and time eating work of opening and changing the iproperties for each part will have to be done. But hey my employer does not mind eating the cost of y'alls screw up said no employer ever.
