Any Place else

When parts are converted from MDT to Inventor, and they bring a ole link to a excel
spreadsheet, it becomes impossible to clear out that link. You can delete the links
within the file, but when that part gets added to a assembly you end up with the resolve
link dialog looking for the excel file every time you open the assembly.

I am trying to find some way to clear out this imaginary link, and am looking through the
document object.
I see
ReferencedFileDescriptors
ReferencedFiles
ReferencedOLEFileDescriptors
ReferenceKeyManager

All of them are basically empty besides the ReferenceKeyManager which just has the Parent
and Application under it. Is there any other place I should look for these mysterious
excel links?

What do you mean, when you say you can delete the link within the file? Do
you mean, when you have the part open in Inventor and the .xls file doesn't
appear in the browser or the paramaters dialog box? I agree. Actually, I
don't get a resolve link error. I do get an error when I open in Design
Assistant. See my post on 06/20/03 "Design Assistant OLE Errors" in the Inv.

Hi Mike

I think we are saying the same thing.

The current part that is giving me a headache I presume had a excel file linked to it when
it was converted from MDT. I have long since deleted the reference out of the browser,
and there is no indication of a reference in the parameters list any more.

When you first insert it into a assembly it doesn't complain, but then every time you open
the assembly that part is looking for the original link to the excel file even though
there is nothing in the file saying it has a link.

I was hoping to find some obscure link in the document object that I could delete and make
it quite looking for the phantom link.

Have you checked the parameters file? Even if you delete the xls out of the
browser it may still show up in the parameters.

I don't get an error when opening the assy or placing into another assy. The
only time I get the error, is when opening in Design Assistant or Pack 'N
Go. I was able to track down the missing .xls file from a different project;
so, that satisfies the P&Go error, but the DA error still exists.
I will post to iCF.
