Add ITEM number to drawing

When i make a drawing the fist sheet is the assembly and the parts list.

Second and third sheet is the individual parts.

we use a partlist on every individual part aswell to get the part number.

I want to add the ITEM number from the assembly to that list aswell.

The problem is if i add ITEM to the partlist i get 1 because the part only contains 1 part.

I want the ITEM to be 6 and 2 in this example.

My plan is something like:

when i save sheet 1 it saves item number to some field in the individual part that i can use and read in the individual partlist.

Hope that you understand what i mean.

Prehaps ther is a better way of doing this.

The problem you are seeing is not a 'flaw', but a 'feature'...

As you are pulling in the parts individually to the other sheets they are not referenced to any assembly, and have no reference to a parts list. While the iLogic examples that Curtis linked to will work, you can also look into using a weldment instead of a simple assembly.

With the weldment, upon placement you can choose to show just one part of the weldment. This part maintains its link to the weldment assembly and will bring up the proper part number as wanted. Disadvantage is for moving parts, as the weldment is simulating a welded part there is no movement about its features.
This is a process mentality, one part per drawing, only need to detail parts as elements that make up the part. If its an assembly, then the assembled components are all detailed on their respective drawing, and not on a hodgepodge in an assembly drawing.
