Hi Inventor team,
I have been using 3D scans for some months now and whilst it is an incredibly useful tool, I think it is seriously lacking in features.
To be able to get the information you need out of a scan, it is almost vital that you crop the scan when working on large schemes. It can often involve many crops before you are able to get to the view that you want, the problem is, when you want to uncrop to look at something else and then go back into you old view, you have to go through the whole crop process again to get in to the certain area you are working on which can be quite time consuming.
I two worthwhile tools that need adding would be:
1. A sketch crop tool so you can use more than just rectangles to crop the view, then you would get the choice of all the sketch features (circles and splines I feel would be very useful) to crop the scan
2. Level of detail or view representations - This would enable you to crop the scan to a view and then save that view so you can return to that view immediately at a later date, it is also worth mentioning that this feature should be available in both parts & assembly's. I often find it easiest to have a separate part with the scan in so I can delete it, and reinsert it easily 'grounded at origin' instead of having to use the scan navigation every time.
It's worth mentioning that I am currently running 2017 so I am unaware if you have addressed this issue in 2018.
Please could you look at adding these tools as I'm sure it will save many people a great deal of time.
