Maybe I am wrong..
but is it possibile that the classic UNDO/REDO options are not working in Nastran!?
I hope that I am wrong and I am only confused...
But if that it's true...how is it possibile that in 2020, it's offered a software without the ability of UNDO and REDO?
Are you serious?
It's quite useless to study and propose new tools in the new releases when there is a lack of essential and basic option like UNDO and REDO?
Please, tell me that I am wrong and I am stupid that I am not able to use properly UNDO and REDO in Nastran IN CAD..
I would prefer that instead to have confirmation that UNDO and REDO are not working.
Dear@Anonymous , imagine situation when you wait several days of solution and after accidentally pressed UNDO. I think you will more upset than now.
Usually CAE-package don't have undo/redo button (except FEMAP).
I don't think it's that easy to capture the undo/redo for Inventor Nastran.
Inventor Nastran is an add-in and also a seperate program. I am not a developer, but I know in Inventor we are able to show other programs in the Model Browser tabs. See here.
I think Inventor Nastran is integrated the same way, but I am not sure.
An Autodesk developer might be better in answering how it is integrated and why this is not so easy to implement.
While NASTRAN is great, and have used it for over 30 years, Inventor Nastran is the most buggy, poorly implimented, FEA package that I have ever used! It is now October 2024, and the undo function, Ctrl Z, for example, is still missing.
I give the package 1 star out of 5.
I totally get your frustration! I had a similar moment when I first started using Nastran. Unfortunately, you’re not wrong—Nastran doesn’t have the typical UNDO/REDO functionality that we’re so used to in other software. It’s surprising, especially for such a powerful tool in 2020, right?
That said, it seems like Nastran’s focus is more on its advanced simulation capabilities rather than some of the basic user-friendly features. It might take some getting used to, but saving versions frequently has helped me avoid losing work. It’s not ideal, but it’s a workaround until they (hopefully) integrate those basic functions.
You're not alone in this confusion!
