Total Reaction moment - Difference in total reaction moments of Part with Shell and Solid element

Hello,

I am performing a linear stress analysis on a sheet metal component using shell elements. I have noticed that the total reaction moment result appears to be not matching with reaction moment of solid element. I am attaching a sample calculation file for your review. Could you please examine it and let me know if I have overlooked any aspects in this analysis? An explanation of this sample calculation would help me better understand the reaction moment results for the more complex sheet metal part (a cone) that I am working on for my project.

Hi @jayesh.shinde 

 

The short answer is you need to tell the dialog what point you want to calculate the sum of the moments. See  Moment results on Reactions dialog not as expected in Inventor Nastran.

 

Since you did not specify a grid point, it is using the origin. Summing the moment of the reaction force about the origin is giving an Mx result which has nothing to do with what you want. (The My moment may also be affected by the position relative to the origin also.)
