Restart control in FEMAP (solver-> Autodesk Nastran)

Hi,

I tried to do analysis by ''Restart Control" where I save the database and can restart from previous (.MASTER). I can see that it is not supported in Autodesk Nastran or am I doing something wrong?

Hi André

  1. What type of analysis are you using?
  2. What are the complete command lines that FEMAP outputs? You should check what FEMAP writes compared to the format required by Autodesk Nastran in case there is some difference.

I am familiar with using the modal (natural frequency) results as the input for a dynamic analysis (frequency response, random response, and so on).  Perhaps this is a different restart capability than what you are asking.

Hi John,

Thank you for your response. I would like to run static nonlinear, save data (.MASTER) and run nonlinear transient by using from previous analysis. However, I can see that the Restart control is deactivated.

Hi,

I am not familiar with the FEMAP interface, so I do not know if it can write out the proper commands or not.

You can add the commands manually to the Nastran file; you would do that in the Editor. See this article: How to perform a nonlinear restart analysis in Autodesk Nastran. I tried it with a nonlinear static to nonlinear transient response analysis, and it worked.

Hi John,

That link seems to be broken now. (Seems to be quite a few like that lately).

Are we able to get that fixed?
