Nastran Fatal Error E5076

Once again trying to troubleshoot a NASTRAN IN-CAD issue for someone and I don't have any experience in the application.  Smiley Mad

After the user's runs a non-linear stress analysis for 2 hours, “Fatal Error E5076” appears in the Autodesk Nastran Output window and the analysis stops.  Any idea what this fatal error means?  Had no success in locating any information about it.

User has Inventor 2016/Nastran In-CAD 2016.

Solution found....

After a little more digging...

Fatal error E5076 is associated to the simulation reaching the maximum number of permitted bisections. Please see the following links for additional information and to troubleshoot your model:

Good research on this one Mark!

Additionally, you can try selecting the E5076 text and hitting F1.  This will pop up the Nastran User's Manual with similar information.

Hi @Mark.Lancaster @nicklaus.trebilcock

I am also getting the same error when I do an impact analysis and I am getting the same error . I just saw the two links that you had attached where in nonlinear static and transient analysis there is a section called : Maximum number of permitted bisections - under the nonlinear setup

But for Impact analysis setup there aren't any field like this where I can enter some value for the bisections . Now what should I do ?

or

Nastran In-cad 2019

I modeled a simple column 59" dia, 0.625 thk 84" tall, high strength steel low alloy. Fixed at base and load normal to top face. I too keep getting error E5076. Hoping I attached the proper file for anyone's review for suggested remedies.

thank you.

Hi @jlkono

My suggestions are as follows:

  1. Assign a real material to the idealization. Although there is Steel listed in the materials, the generic material is still assigned to the Solid 1 idealization. That is, edit the Solid 1 idealization and choose the material to be Steel. The generic materials is weaker than wet newspaper, so it will not withstand the 107000 lb load. Smiley Happy
  2. Output the intermediate results ("Nonlinear Setup > Intermediate Output > On") so that you have some results to review if the analysis fails to reach 100%.
  3. Start a new post if you have additional problem. Since your model is entirely different than the other two threads in the post, it is helpful to us (in Tech Support) and any one who reads the post to recognize it as a new post.
