Maximum marker hidden

Hi,

I'm quite new to Nastran and I'm struggling to provide a view that shows the maximum von mises stress marker, simply because of it's location. (It is obscured by other geometry.) When I orbit around, I get glimpses of the marker and it's definitely visible when I show the model in contour lines, or with Iso-Surfaces. Unfortunately, these options make it hard to understand the relative location.

Is there a way to either make a continuous render slightly transparent, or is there a way to drag the marker to a new position on the screen with a leader line to the node?

I'm running Inventor Professional 2023.1.

Many thanks

Hi Steve. Welcome to the Inventor Nastran forum.

I cannot think of a way to do what you want. The contour results cannot be made translucent, and the max/min flags cannot be repositioned.

The only idea I have is to show the part that has the max value. (Edit the contour plot, check the box for "Part View", and select the parts to be shown. When the contour is "Display"ed, the other parts are hidden.)

Hi John,

Thanks for your suggestion. In the end I did use the part view and section views to try to help and then built a collage of images to try to give a better idea to the customer of the location.

I still struggled to get the tag to a useable position. It seemed to always want to be behind geometry even when looking directly at the high spot. I think having the marker on a leader and being able to re-position it, is definitely something for the ideas board.

Hi all,

I also have this problem. its like marker always want to stay hidden behind part. I can see it when I rotate part for marker to be beside of it, but it makes reports very confusing. This was not always the problem and started happening some time ago, probably with some update. If anybody have any solution for this please help.

Thanks in advance,
Filip
