Connect beam and shell elements

Hello, 

I am trying to simulate a plate which is welded to a beam. (see picture)

Is there an option to connect a line element with a shell element which is half way the line element. 

Because I get everytime a fault e5000 which means it isn't connected to each other.

Take a look at this article. It describes exactly what you are looking for.

Where the line element and shell element connect, you need to select the edges of the surface.

But i think the problem is that the plate is connected half way the beam.

I have solved it with the article in combination with a rigid body.
