Cannot interact with inventor mode when Nastran environment is active - Inventor 2023

Hi All,

I'm using Inventor 2023 and Inventor Nastran 2023. 

In previous versions, when I was working in the Autodesk Inventor Nastran environment, I was able to switch to the Model tab and right click on objects in the model tree to change visbility etc. Now in version 2023 when I switch to the Model tab while in Nastran, right clicking on anything in the model tree gives no options. The options return when I exit the Nastran environment.

Anyone else having this behaviour? Is there a new setting I need to set?

Hi Mat,

Most (maybe all) functionality related to modeling is broken in Nastran 2023. Here is the current list of known items. (Your item is number 1.) The developers are working to restore as much functionality as possible.

If you are hiding parts, you can do the that from the Nastran environment. Expand the list of the subassemblies and parts in the model tree, locate the part to hide, right-click, uncheck "Visible".

1. Edit the CAD model	Exit the Nastran environment to update the CAD model.
2. Marking menu for Nastran commands does not appear
3. Measure tool ("Tools > Measure")
4. Section views ("View > Visibility > Half Section View", and so on)		(planned 2023.1)
5. Adding work features such as "3D Model > Work Features > UCS"
6. Pinned probes cannot be moved on the screen		(planned 2023.1)
7. Pre-select a face before Loads or Constraint command	Select the command first, then the geometry.	(planned 2023.1)
8. Highlight part in model tree when selected in the graphics window		(planned 2023.1)
9. Select load, constraint, connector in graphics window and edit or highlight the item in the model tree		(planned 2023.1)
10. Multiple files can be opened in Inventor simultaneously. If the Inventor Nastran environment is active in any of the files, none of the other files can be used in the Inventor modeling environment.		(planned 2023.1)
11. Unable to do Box selection under Idealization in Inventor Nastran 2023	Delete the Idealizations created by Nastran Automatically. Create a new Idealization, Now a box selection does work.

Being able to use the measure tool in the Nastran environment is important. For example, I want to properly set Penetration Offset Distance for a separation contact between two midsurface idealizations and it would be nice to measure the distance between the midsurfaces.

Please install the latest versions: 2023.2 of Inventor and 2023.2 of Inventor Nastran. The majority of issues have been resolved according to this article: What functionality was lost with Inventor Nastran 2023.0.
