Wrapping a Part to a curved (non-flat) assembly aka Decals

Please add a feature to be able to apply a flat thin plastic part, like a decal, to a non-flat assembly.

I envision this could work much like the 'Wrap Image to Surface' function or the new 'Mark Surface' function in 2024.

Reasoning:  My company (and most others i'd imagine) when we don't paint our name/logo on the side of our equipment, we tend to use a decal, but we would also like this part to be shown on our assembly BoMs so we can call it out via a balloon and the fabricator knows where to apply it and they can source it from us.

Hi

Paradoxically, you described 2 different scenarios:

  1. Decals and Marking are tools that are not available in assembly. I understand the desire to add functionality. However, these tools do not create new components, which is contrary to your expectations regarding the effects and the sense of use.
  2. On the other hand, you talk about a component in a bill of materials with a logo, engraving, etc. This is possible today. This is what derived parts are for. Create a derived part, remove unnecessary surfaces (you can even leave only a transparent surface model), add a logo using the available tools for part modeling, and finally place this component in an assembly file. You will need to break the connection to prevent a loop.
You can also create a simple model with a sticker and insert it into an assembly - it doesn't have to be a derived part if the geometry is not complex.
    Another method is adaptivity.
Either way, if you want a new component with the ability to mark with a balloon - you have to create a new component.

@kacper.suchomski I was describing the functionality of Decals and Marking (for parts) as examples of what i would like to see implemented for an assembly utilizing an existing thin plastic part file.
