Variable Chamfer & Variable Draft

Variable Chamfer & Variable Draft

Hello Autodesk Inventor users,

I am submiting some ideas which are not available even in the Inventor 2016. Implementing this new ideas in some future release will be very usefull.

Also, resolving idea to Draft Surfaces will be one great step for all Inventor users.

If you suppose that some of my ideas also can be usefull for some future release of Inventor, please vote. Smiley Wink

Best regards

Hello,

For watch industry, this idea is great. They use often variable chamfer on part like this:

Yes, you are right. Fields of using variable chamfer and draft are unlimited.

Thank you for supporting this idea!

A good video demonstrating variable draft in another software (Creo):

@dan_szymanski, do you have any news on this one? Instead of doing magic tricks with sweeps and lofts, I would love to make a variable chamfer with a dedicated tool. Engineering hours cost too much nowadays, and we lack the resources to do these features without proper tools.

Chamfers ending smoothly at rounds are especially welcome.

Hello @holtee71, although this has been set as "Future Consideration" (for some time), this request continually loses to other priorities when placed in face to face battles. Looking at all other open, not yet implemented ideas, this request sits below the 290 water line. So I am afraid to report that it is not in our near term plans for consideration.

Heyo @dan_szymanski

Thanks for your response!

Are fillets and chamfers features that could be handled with in-house developed apps? We are checking for possible engineering tool improvements in our company, and having a tool to create smoother fillets and chamfers would be nice. For example, because of the filleting, my colleagues use NX instead of Inventor (corporate selection for CAD).
