Split Browser =>>> less scrolling

Hi,

what about the possibility to split the current browser into two let say "areas", like an excel spreadsheet or word-doc.

This could be a great feature for working in large assemblies or parts with lots of features.

The picture illustrates only an example! Just having two browsers showing the same general situation, but with a different focus!

User would like the ability to split the browser tree. This would allow for easier navigation of large assemblies. Similar behavior can be seen in Autodesk VRED with their split Scenegraph.

Inventor 2018 allows us to customize the UI in quite a few new ways. I noticed we can how have seperate tabs for vault, model, favorites, and representations. The representations tab would be a lot more useful if the representations tab included "View" and "Level of Detail" along with Positional. Then we could have a static representation area while being able to collapse all on the model browser and still select views and level of detail, currently we can only do this with 1/3 of the representation types.

I could not agree more. In my workplace, position reps are by far the least used. It makes this tab virtually useless. missed opportunity!

3 Dockable panels, for Representation (existing), LOD, and Views are frequenty asked in my company. Very good Idea, thanks for posting 😉

It would be nice to be able to split the assembly model tree pane in order to more easily add constraints between workplanes of parts that are toward the top and toward the bottom of the tree. See attached screen shot of a virtual view.

Am I wasting my time browsing the internet hoping to find a way to split the browser screen in inventor? I wonder if Autodesk thought the industry wouldn't be using this software to this extent. Autosesk C'mon man!

Hi Autodesk,

I guess in 80% of all assemblies there are more than the standard design views Master and Standard. But only in a few assemblies there are positional views. But there is this tab Representations, that is for "nothing"... Why aren't the design views not listed here as well? Switching between different views could be very easy having a separate browser for it. Currently I have to scroll up and down and up and down, expand and collapse and expand and collapse, it is so annoying and time consuming....

Introduce an Excel style table split so that the upper part of the model tree is always in view. I am often working on models with probably hundreds of features, and when using blocks and user planes/axes, have to scroll all the way up to find them. Then all the way back down again, etc...

If there were a way to split the view (and I know some others have suggested this to be able to see View Reps), it would save many mouse miles and boost productivity.

I think each region (upper and lower) should have it's own scroll bar too.

I have no doubt there would be other uses too, like being able to browse through solid bodies.

I'd find this very useful in a large assembly with several hundred components.  It would help me keep the origin folders of different components visible while I applied constraints.

Great idea and also I also suffer the same mouse mileage in large parts! Also useful in large assemblies when constraining against planes or flicking between view reps.

Like it! Most often the 'fundamental' sketches, planes etc. are at the top of the tree so being able to keep them instantly available makes a lot of sense.

I would like to have a tab for models states and a tab for origin next to the model browser. This would greatly reduce scrolling in the model browser.

While working on assemblies with a lot of parts and model states adding a new part will lead to a scroll fest of enormous proportions. Open an existing models states, scroll down, unsuppres the new part and unsuppres it's mates. Scroll back up select the next model state repeat.

I have made a small mock-up what this would look like.

I would also like the origin to have it's own tab as well. This would also limit scrolling during large assembly work.
