Request to bring - Indent feature like in Solidworks

Request to bring - Indent feature like in Solidworks

Hey Guys ,

I was a long time user of Solidworks before we came into the Autodesk Manufacturing portfolio . One of the features that I miss really is the indent feature which is quite useful in Solidworks . I couldn't find that feature in inventor . Even the .ide punches are not as intelligent as the Solidworks indent tool . Please have a look at it in the below link and if you find it to be useful - please support this idea .

Is this just a Boolean subtract?  Can you explain how it's different from a Boolean operation?

Hey @Anonymous

This is not just a boolean operation .. It is like a punching tool which creates a permanent dent on the workpiece ... I have actually posted a youtube link above .. Please have a look at it ... In solidworks it is a very robust tool

I looked previously, but have now watched with more attention.  Looks good, I've voted up, but I wonder if there's anything in the "plastic" tools (or if they even still exists).  It's the kind of thing that used to be there.

Hey thanks for your vote . Glad to know that you liked it . Let's hope for this feature in the future versions of Inventor . ... I did check the plastic tools but I couldn't find any of them that does more or less what the indent feature in Solidworks could do ...

Hi there,

Something happend with this idea since?

Or, what's the best option to achieve this in Inventor these days?

Greetings!
