Did you mean:

Replace Model Reference per base view

Replace Model Reference per base view

If 2 base views share the same model reference, only 1 reference is displayed.

If I edit that one, both base views are changed.

I've had several occassions that I wanted to change only one of them

Currently you see:

     Assembly1.iam (replace)

I would like to see:

    View 1 - Assembly1.iam (replace)

    View 5 - Assembly1.iam (replace)

Great suggestion!

I would also like to be able to replace an .iam with an .ipt and the other way around.

I just wanted to do same thing, and couldn't figure it out. It should be like in assembly, replace or replace all. Great idea!

I also found  idea to further improve that feature

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-ideastation/idw-replace-model-reference-from-browser/idc-p/6...

I think they should be combined

I have also been wanting to do this and have found a work around which is very laborious.

See my post at  https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-forum/replace-model-reference-single-instance/m-p/7247534#M6...

I was about to post to idea forum, but see other  people have had same idea.

I fully support it and give my vote.

Being able to change the file path and Representation View for any file type including .ipn of any individual drawing view would be a great add-on in the "Edit View" window. That way you could either Replace the Model Reference in the manage toolbar or individually change the link for a specific View.

Why aren't these boxes available to change in a Drawing file? Why can't we change an ipn View in this window?

When we create the view, we have access to all the views. this should not be locked once the view is created but remain available to change if we need to.

To the OP post... I think the idea needs to be rewritten just in case it's confusing devs. I'm also confused sorry.

Are you saying if you have a base view and 2 reference views... that you want to make one of the reference views became the base view instead?
