Hi,

Is it possible to  add Manual (or Automatic) explode in presentation (similar Publisher feature)?

@fsanchou, the IdeaStation is for posting feature requests. If you have a question or you're not sure if something is possible in Inventor, you can post your questions in the Inventor forum here: Inventor General Discussion forum.

@DRoam, I'm sure explode feature don't existe in inventor (but existing in fusion). So this is exactly what I am seeing evolve. My request in English may be badly written correctly, but i ask Autodesk to develop this feature. Best regard,

fsanchou you posted "Is it possible to  add Manual (or Automatic) explode in presentation (similar Publisher feature)?" complete with exploded image posted. Later you comment that you are sure explode doesnt exist in Inventor. Your posted image clearly shows exploded assembly with tweak trails. Did you not do this explode in Inventor? I'm confused. You show exploded assembly and ask if you can do it.

Explode is the base of the Inventor Presentation. It would be rather pointless to have presentation with out explode. When you open Inventor presentation file you click Create View then the popup screen default is manual explode with an option to auto explode.

@Anonymous, this image was produced with Autodesk Inventor Publisher 2016.

Tweak feature is the base in Inventor Presentation. Here I'm talking about Explode feature as it was possible to make in Inventor Publisher 2016.

See the link below, there is a quick video of explode feature efficiency  :

Auto Explode: All Levels

Also you write:

"When you open Inventor presentation file you click Create View then the popup screen default is manual explode with an option to auto explode."

Here I'm not sure but this feature has disappeared in 2017 version or I have not found.

Best regards

Yeah Im not familiar with Publisher. The link you posted showing Publisher presentation seems to have the same results as Auto Explode in Inventor Presentation. I havent yet downloaded Inventor 2017 but I really cant see them removing the auto explode fetaure. That certainly wouldnt be an improvement if they did however it wouldnt be the first time a useful tool has been removed.

I should have 2017 soon and be able to look around

I can confirm that while Inventor 2016 (and previous versions of Inventor) had auto-explode functionality, it has been removed in Inventor 2017. According to this thread, Autodesk did this because the auto-explode feature in Inventor was never very good, and very few people used it.

Users in that thread also cited Publisher's auto-explode functionality as a desirable replacement. I'm posting a link to this Idea in the thread so anyone who sees that discussion can vote for fsanchou's suggestion.

This is a duplicate. I already posted this idea:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-ideas/port-manual-explode-from-publisher-to-inventor-presenta...

To clarify on all the confusion above. The publisher explode was completely different to Inventor auto explode. It was really good and did what you expected the auto explode function to do in Inventor, if it had ever actually worked. Parts were exploded in logical lines instead of being scattered randomly everywhere.

The thread you refer to above was started by me and I unfortunately used the wrong terminology which confused things a bit. The auto explode WAS discontinued because no-one used it, but the 'manual explode' which is what I was meant to be discussing was simply dropped because Publisher was dropped.

There is apparently a very similar tool in Fusion, but I haven't used that so I can't comment on it.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm curious, because I've never used publisher--what's the difference between "Explode One Level", "Explode All Levels", and "Manual explode"? And why do you only want the manual explode added to Inventor?

Explode one level explodes it to the next level down.

Explode all explodes to the bottom level (every single part)

These are both automatic explodes and were just as crap as the Inventor version.

The manual explode goes down one level and explodes in line with the direction that you drag. It worked brilliantly.

The way I understand it is the explode 1 level doesnt explode the sub assemblies and explode all levels will explode down to the single part. Manual explode you can drag the part manully along X, Y or Z axis. Pretty handy but could use a free drag to make it easier to group multiple parts such as bolts

I can't believe that Autodesk removed the "Automatic Explode" option from Inventor 2017. Even though it wasn't perfect, it was a heck of a lot better than manually exploding (tweaking) every part.
