Patterning holes

Patterning holes

customized pattern for the sketch .

1 row with 10 horizontal hole and 10 vertical hole. Vertical last hole also need 10 horizontal hole same for the horizontal last hole with 10 vertical hole. Its means one square with 10 hole at all side.

check below.

this is possible with i logic but its more easy . if we get this new options in rectangular and round pattern.

if above options already available. please advice how to do.

customized pattern options need to be control on sekeleton drawing to avoid make rule in i logic.

You can do this with pattern along a path. You'll need to a sketch to pattern along. When you start the pattern command, for 'Direction' pick your sketch.

To add to Paul's suggestion, there are actually multiple ways to do it for this specific case. You can create a sketch with points lined up like that. Then create a sketch-based hole by selecting those points. Or, you create one hole and use Sketch Driven Pattern to populate the hole to those points.

Many thanks!

Patterning along a path would only work if the x-direction spacing was the same as the y-direction spacing, which may not be the case. I had to do this same thing just a couple days ago, and my spacing was not the same in both directions, so this wasn't an option for me.

And creating all of the hole points within the sketch does not help at all. That requires considerably MORE manual work, is not parametric, requires you to manually edit the hole feature and click to add any points that you add later, etc. etc...

Same with the Sketch Driven pattern...

None of the above are acceptable workarounds or solutions in my opinion.

The simplest method is to create a single hole in the corner (say the top left corner), then create two patterns off that hole: one pattern which creates all the vertical instances in the y-direction to make the left-side holes, and then in the x-direction has a second instance, with a spacing equal to the WIDTH of the rectangle, to make the right-side instances. And then a second pattern which creates all the horizontal instances in the x-direction to make the top-side holes, and then in the y-direction has a second instance with spacing equal to the HEIGHT of the rectangle, to make the bottom-side instances.

So two patterns, one makes the vertical sides and the other makes the horizontal sides.

That's currently the best way to make a perimeter pattern that's actually parametric and doesn't require suppressing a bunch of instances.

And it's far from being a good way.

A simple "perimeter only" checkbox for patterns would be much, much better.

Hi, what Maksud.Malek is asking for has been on my wishlist forever.

I cannot believe that such a simple command is still not available in Inventor. (Using 2018 now)

How difficult can it be to have this command and create two simple rows and columns with holes or features, having both there own spacings.

Please implement. Thank you.
