Mesh to Solid Tool

It may be a big ask but howabout a real tool to convert mesh data from an STL file, etc to a solid simply to use the item as a placeholder. It would then be possible to slice it and use the sketch sections for surface lofts or even a new parametric model. The current mesh enabler add-on is limited in capability.

An even bigger ask would be for a full reverse engineering application that detects planar surfaces, holes, revolves, etc to create a full parametric model from scan data.
