Good day.
In order to allow for proper assembly of components it is important that the BOM/parts list in the .idw starts with the main/first part and consecutively list the parts as they must be placed into the assembly. The problem is that Inventor does not allow the designer to match the BOM/parts list in the .idw to the assembly tree in the .iam.
The default order of the parts list is how the items have been placed chronologically in the .iam. The problem is that if the designer must change a part that is assembled at a higher level the entire assembly must be redone in order to accommodate the assembly process. This is very time consuming.
If the designer can move the parts (as is possible now), in the .iam assembly tree and have a function to match the parts list in the .idw to the assembly tree it would be much more efficient and the CREO users will stop laughing at us.
Regards.
Barend.
