Hello, How are you Today ? My customers want this standard ' DIN 5482' There is DIN 5480 but there isn't involute Spline 5481 and 5482 standard number.
If you look into Design Accelerator folder for Splines there is an xml file with DIN 5482 but it seems that it should have been others related to this standard (see DIN 5480)...
This idea has been implemented within Autodesk Inventor 2026. Please review the Inventor 2026 What's New article here, for more information regarding how you may leverage it. Special thanks to everyone who cast a vote for this capability.
@callum_starling If possible, could you share the dataset with me for further investigation? Anyway it works fine for me, and the new standard families are available for me in Inventor 2026 now. Thanks!
Hi @Yijiang.Cai , Even me and my colleagues are facing the same issue. So we are in process of migrating from Inventor 2023 to Inventor 2026 and we are seeing this issue when working on Inventor 2026
We don't use the Default Design Data file which is saved in C: users/ public/ documents / inventor 2026 / ....etc . we have a shared location and there we have copied all the design data files to there and we have updated the same in the project file.
So I have already migrated the style library using the "Style library manager" to 2026 and Templates also to 2026. But we still face this issue.
Hi @Yijiang.Cai , Really sorry, currently i dont have an access/permission to send attachments directly through mail to outside org (it maybe flagged) and i don't have account in autocad to raise an ticket also! (Will check anyone my team has access here)
My observation, it is related to upgrade process not sure
Why i think that this is when we use "Style library manager" only the styles will be migrated , not others folders and files inside design data. It may be related to that!
If you understood what i am trying to say, may be you have an idea how to resolve my issue!
@Pranesh_Thugru I could reproduce the issue here, and the new families not available when using the legacy design data, although it is migrated. But there is a workaround to get it achieved. Please copy "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2026\Design Data\Design Accelerator\Tables\SplinesInv\Inv_Splines.cfg" from default design data folder of Inventor 2026 to the migrated design data folder which you are using in the project file. The new families will be available. Please let me know whether it works for you.
Anyway it has been tracked as INVGEN-86728 for investigation. Many thanks!
Test 1 - I copied the file as per your comments, I am able to see both DIN 5481 and DIN 5482, but there is an issue. I am unable to create any spline using DIN 5481 and DIN 5482. Inventor gets stuck and i need to crash the inventor session.
Test 2 - So one more test i did, i copied the entire Design Accelerator folder from "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2026\Design Data\" to my migrated design data folder and now I am able to create the spline.
But whether Test 2 is the correct approach i don't know. Please suggest
Below is some snaps for more understanding
Used the below Shaft for both Test1 and Test2
Test 1 - Below are the images when i select the DIN 5481 and DIN 5482 (The Drop down list shows some values with *)
Test 2 - Below are the images when i select the DIN 5481 and DIN 5482 (The Drop down list got changed as shown)
Observation : In both cases, i saw the below error
Hi @Yijiang.Cai , Thanks for the fast update. Below is my Observations.
I followed your method of copying Inv_Splines.cfg, DIN5481-*.xml from Design data and DIN5482-30.xml from the attachment. Now I am able to create both the Splines. However when i select DIN5481 Spline, I still get the error.
Not getting any error when selecting DIN5482. I tried selecting other standards (ISO,ANSI etc), not getting the below error.
Is this the correct behavior?
We have multiple Business Unit (BU) and they use their own design data files, i checked in couple of them, in both cases I am seeing the error only in DIN5481 Spline.
Kindly check and provide your feedback, if this is an expected behavior, then i will deploy these files
Note: Not sure if this will help you or not, even though we are migration from Inventor 2023 to 2025 , our Design Accelerator folder has not been updated from 2017/2019 (Some BU use 2019, some BU use 2017)
