We like the fact that Vault 2024 now has an option to Sync Templates and Styles for Inventor.
It would be great if there was a way to temporarily disabled this feature.
Here is the scenario: When trying to edit the templates and styles. We create the changes and close and reopen to verify there are no conflicts, and Vault will resync with Vault data before we are able to verify and check in, losing any edits.
Currently this is the workflow we are using with vaulted styles and templates in 2024:
- Open Vault 2024 client, check out templates and xml files in the root of the Design Data folder.
- Open Inventor and Log out of vault, turn off automatic log in in the sign in dialog.
- Open Templates in Inventor, make changes to template and on Manage tab, Save into your library. We also do Update to see if anything shows on that list.
- Close Template, save, do not check in (should not be logged into vault)
- Close and reopen inventor, and start new from those templates to verify no conflicts. All good!
- Go to Vault Client and check in all the templates and xml files you had checked out. Recommend putting a note about what was changed (paper trail ;])
- Then you can go to Inventor and log into Vault. Sync is ok because Vault has the most current.
We hope this helps others with this challenge!
