The improvement I propose is marking the selected model blue, and keeping it highlighted blue even when the Open box comes up.
The model reference is now "highlighted" by a dotted line. This dotted line goes away as soon as the "Open" button on the right is clicked.
If a drawing has many references it makes it easier keeping track of what model is being replaced if it keeps being highlighted.
