Parameter creation and management is a spreadsheet-like task that would benefit greatly from efficient keyboard navigation. Unfortunately, the Parameters dialog is hampered by a variety of issues that make keyboard navigation practically impossible.
I would like for these issues to be addressed so we can be more productive when creating and modifying parameters.
Some of the issues that need fixing:
- Add a keyboard shortcut for creating a new Parameter, and other commands
- Fix keyboard navigation within the parameters table.
- After opening the Parameters table, the focus is on the "Model Parameters" group header, and you can't tab or arrow-key into the table itself.
- After creating or renaming a parameter and then hitting "Enter", tab/arrow-key navigation within the parameters table does not work.
- When a parameter row is selected (for example, after escaping out of a Name/Equation edit), I would like to be able to hit "Delete" to delete the selected parameter.
- The up/down arrow-keys work within the Name and Equation columns to navigate between parameters, but it skips Text and True/False parameters.
- Hitting tab in most columns takes you out of the table rather than to the next cell.
- Hitting tab while a dropdown is selected (multi-value parameter or True/False parameter) doesn't do anything.
- Support Ctrl+Backspace to delete the previous full word in the Equation box.
- Fix keyboard navigation within Unit Type dialog
- Keyboard navigation of the units tree (e.g. up/down to go between unit categories, and left/right to expand/collapse a category) is not feasible, because the focus returns to the Unit Specification text box after every key press.
- Hitting "Escape" while the Unit Type dialog is open closes the Parameters window completely, rather than just the Unit Type window. (the same goes for the "Purge Unused" dialog.)
- Use "Ctrl+Enter" to close window.
- This should work even when a parameter Name/Equation field is active.
If I missed any, please add them in the comments below.
