My original post about this is HERE. What I would like to see is an easy way to turn line weights on / off without having to click your way through the applications menu. I am quite often having to turn them on and off and having to go thru half a dozen mouse clicks to do it is an annoyance. Ideally I would like to see a radio button or something you can click once in the ribbon to achieve this, I would put it in the annotate tab, Format with edit layers.

The Select Other function in the Part or Assembly menu should be helpfull during Sketch creation and when placing dimensions, ballons, etc in the drawings.

If we have an parametric model that changes from a very small part into a very large, normally the drawing view scale is completly off. Inventor could see that the views are off the sheet and scale them to fit in the sheet and also position them.

Hi, It would be nice if you could include some of the ease of use of Fusion 360 into Inventor. Right now, I end up creating most of my parts for an assembly in one part file with multiple solids - it's just an easier work flow for me. Fusion 360 works the same way, but you can click on a solid and convert it to a component and the file will automatically update to an assembly file. It would be fantastic if Inventor did the same thing rather than opening up a whole new document - it's just plain slow. Inventor's workflow: Fusions workflow:

Hello Inv user & QA/Dev Team, It would be handy to meaure the amount of interferene (linear & or angular measurement) built in to the "Check interference" option alternatively have an option to save the interference solid/s and still associated to the parent solids & automatically update if the originals were changed. Dear Support, I want to bring a table of all my Studbolts into the Content Center, or the Bolt-generator. Those Studbolts are articles that I buy from my supplier. It always has 2 rings, 2 nuts and 1 Threaded bar, with ONE artcle-number and Manufacturer. Content Center - If I make the Multiple body Part and make it in to an iPart, and Publish it in the Content Center, it works great but, I can't see my Parameters, and I can't move the nuts and rings. Bolt-Generator - When I make it in the Bolt-Generator, I have to gather all the different rings, nuts and thead seperately. But now I don't have ONE article in my BOM, I have several. And then I have to fix it manually. Can you make a method that I can make an Content Center Part of an Flexible assembly (so I can move parts) or that I have an parameter to move and part. When you first attempt to add an item balloon to an assembly on a drawing which doesn't have a BOM enabled (structured/parts only) you are prompted to select the type of BOM you want to enable and pull from. At the top of this box is a Source file. PLEASE!!! Let me change the source file Assembly. That way I can define a 'MASTER' assembly and pull ALL of the part numbers in reference to that assembly. Then I can use the same parts in different assemblies and not struggle 'manually' overwriting all of the parts numbers in the balloons to match it's 'MASTER' assembly

. Appreciate the topic of alignment has come up before within the IdeaStation, but it is rather fragmented. As I wish to bring the whole topic together I've started a new post. Good to see Inv a tool for Arranging Dimensions, seems to tidy a dimensions very quickly and a bit to thoroughly - I have my own few quirks that it seems to over-ride. However, there is more to annotating a drawing than just the dimensions and we need the option of aligning each and every annotation with anything else in the drawing. This includes Views. I can Project a View and it is automatically align - lets say horizontally. I can Project another View from the first - lets say vertically - and Project another View from this third View - lets say horizontally. Why can't I align the second and fourth views vertically? There are occasions when a grid of views is needed - this is a hint for a possible solution. I've recently produced a drawing (idw) with a lot of little Leader Texts, it would be really helpful - from a presentational point of view - to align these as well. The same applies to GT&Ds and why can't we algin Text? We also need an alignment offset setting, possibly having an adjustable default via Options. Alignment needs to be more than Horizontal and Vertical, we need the Option to align with an edge or side in a View, whatever the angle. Polar Snaps with user determined angles is one starting place. A semi-visible grid on the drawing that we could Snap to would also help. Continuous Constructions lines projecting from each annotation either horizontally/vertially or at pre-determined angles and with pre-set off-set graduations would also help aligning annotations to other items in a drawing. Hopefully, this post will provide a bit of food for thought and maybe others will add to the ideas

Hello, A nice feature which is in the parts is (Display Extended Information). It would be nice to see this in the weldment/assembly area as well. Proposed addition... This would be a very nice addition!!!! Regards, Ivon LeBlanc

It would be useful to change the unit quantity for parts you buy in packages. For example: So in the BOM the part will have the quantity 0.5 or whatever you want.

It would be nice to use folders in iLogic to minimize the code. For example: You would be able to 'Capture Current State' of the folder. Then it would make something like Folder.IsActive to control the entire folder with a 1-liner. Instead of the long piece of code needed for every part. This would be a lot nicer when working with a lot of parts and/or Frame Generator. - Mark

There isn't an IdeaStation for the Application Manager so here will do. Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I try and make these software packages work for 100+ users. The things you would do for 5-10 people can't really be realistically achieved when you have hundreds of people spread out over multiple sites. Based on that, I honestly thought the Application Manager would be a step in the right direction for deploying updates to that many users, but its got some issues. Chief amongst those being the fact that it doesn't work, at all, until the user opens it up and ticks the box for the privacy statement. REALLY?! As an administrator, I chose to deploy this to the user so that I could minimise with the goal being to eliminate the need to send out emails asking the users to do things, which 90% of the time they won't do. So as of today, an Inventor service pack has been out for quite some time but the application manager hasn't informed a single user of this as the program is a total vegetable until they explicitly open it up and tick a box! If I have to email all users to give them instructions on how to activate the application manager, I might as well email them a link to the service pack, and no... after you've done it once it isn't done indefinitely because you can't rely on everyone doing it! I know this isn't Inventor, but still, where else can I put this. So can someone please pass this on to whomever deals with the application manager. Please allow the application manager to function immediately after install, if the privacy statement must be ticked for legal reasons, please enforce this AFTER the user has been informed that there's a service pack available. Alternatively, present the user with this tick box when they launch their CAD application for the first time.

Some users need to place all their CC Parts as Custom. So Ideally we should have the ability to set the default option for this dialog box.

Many times when developing a selection set of parts for a tweek I will miss some parts that I want. In am assembly file you can use a crossing window to select a group of parts but you can not in an IPN. You have to individually select these part to add them to the tweek.

People working with a lot of Design Accelerator parts or assemblies in their designs, myself included, generally notice that these eventually slow your design down to a glacial pace. Especially, but not limited to bolted connections. The advice I usually give is to create an LOD that suppresses these connections. This usually speeds things back up again, but then you cannot see where you have placed fasteners and where you haven't. It would be nice if there were some sort of "semi-suppressed" state that we could put into an LOD. Something that removes the parts from memory but leaves a simplified representation of them still visible. Then when they need to be edited or more added, it will be easier to simply add where they are needed, or un-suppress a select group of them for editing.

I recently discovered that you can set a column in your iPart Table to a Custom Parameter. This is really cool because when you insert the iPart into an assembly you simply type in the parameters you want and it builds the part. This allows essentially a limitless number of configurations of a single part without spending hours filling in the iPart table manually with all the parameter combinations that you might want to use. (See screenshot of table) This got me excited and I wanted to use this funcionality in Frame Generator. But you can't. When you publish a part as a structural member and use it in frame generator, the "Size" pull down on the Insert Frame dialog box only has the explicit size combinations that you have stored in the iPart Table at the time of publishing. You can edit this table with the content center editor, but you still have to have the exact member in the table to use it in Frame Generator. My idea is to incorporate Custom Parameters into Frame Generator. In Frame Generator in the Insert Frame dialog box, if you select a Family that had custom parameters, there could be a button or check box to allow you to insert custom values for each parameter. See screenshot of Insert Frame box and proposed location of custom parameter button/check box. This would empower users to make fully customizable frames on the fly and to tweak frame members by small (or any) increments easily.

Is it possible to set your default dimensional tolerance (Ex. 3 decimal places) to automatically reflect your choice in the dimension tolerance places? I have never seen a drawing that has a 3 place dimension with a 2 place tolerance. This is not reflective of any drafting standard I am aware of. Regards, Mark
