FOR INVENTOR NESTING

FOR INVENTOR NESTING

Hi everyone,

I work with a large number of items that need to be nested in order to give my production department the information, the fact is that using inventor nesting right now is very time consuming and exhausting.

The problems:

1. Not all features are exported in the dxf format (open contours, bend lines in the nesting, I've noticed that one contour is closed in one particular sheet, but in the next one is open and overall stability issues)

2. the part number should be displayed in the nesting result and not a 1), 2) 3), etc format or We should be able to choose if display the stock number or the part number or any other data. Nowadays I have to do this manually replacing those silly numbers for the stock number inside AutoCAD, monkey business!

3. the overall process to get the parts to nesting is a little long and tired, for instance when creating standard content, if You don't take the precaution to exclude it for the nesting, it will assume it as new material.

Another example is when you have internal cutting or grooves in a part it does not recognize it as an integral part and in the nesting, it is displayed as multiple parts overlapping it with other parts.

Thanks!

I know this is an older post but yes the ability to add the part numbers automatically to the nest would be fantastic.  I am using inventor nesting for running a CNC router.  I'm exporting an assembly from the files that I nest and I have noticed that if I have any of my parts with text (for instance if I manually add the part number as an engraved feature) the nesting software gets mad because of the splines.  So if there was someway that the nest would add text to the exported assemblies so that you can add a machining process that would use the part number would be extremely useful.
