When alternate units are used for linear dimensions, the numerical values of the dimensions are automatically converted. This is not the case, however, for feature control frames and the results are confusing and can easily results in undetected errors on a drawing (didn't we lose a Mars explorer due to a mistake in unit conversions?). The fact that there is a drop-down menu for units for FCF's implies that the numerical value inside the FCF will change when different units are selected. For example, if I have a flatness of .05 on a drawing created in millimeters and change the FCF units in Styles Editor to inches, nothing happens. To make things even more misleading, if I enable "Unit String" in the FCF Styles Editor, my flatness will show up as ".05 in" - very misleading. The numerical value within the FCF should change with the units selected in the Styles Editor>FCF>Units drop-down menu. Please refer to forum post "Feature Control Frame - Units Not Being Converted Correctly" for an initial inquiry into this problem. Thanks for your consideration.
