Export Inventor Parameters

Another question which came up whilst delivering training this week, was whether there was a quick way of exporting the Model Parameters to an Excel spreadsheet etc. I know we can export information via the BOM or Parts List, but I was unable to find a way of quickly exporting the Parameters from within the Parameters (Fx) dialogue, so this might be a useful addition?

Click on Manage tab > parameters panel, then click on the black drop down arrow. You'll find the export option here.

Export is to an XML file. Notice that you can limit the export to key parameters only...

Hi @PaulMunford, thanks for the feedback, this helps with the initial query.

However, it could be advantageous to have a button within the Parameters dialogue, just like we do in other environments.

It's also a minor UI consistency problem. Everything else that has an Export function (BOM, Parts List) has an Export button in its dialog box, not a separate command somewhere on the ribbon.

 Paul, that export parameter export is 2019 feature? I cannot see it in 2018.3 but could be having a "man-look"?

It isn't new - at the time I posted in this thread, I would have still been using 2016, and it was there.  Just checked in 2018.3, and it's in exactly the same spot Paul's screenshot shows.  Probably just not looking in the right place.

This idea has been implemented within Autodesk Inventor 2021.1. The commands; Import from XML and Export to XML (located within the Ribbon under > Manage tab > Parameters), can now be directly accessed from within the Parameters dialog box. Special thanks to everyone who cast a vote for it.
