I think Inventor should add 3D direct modeling functionality like Ironcad. Ironcad can draw and constrain solid in 3D environment, but in Inventor you have to do first in 2D sketch, get parameter for each line, then you have to go to 3D environment to Extrude, Revolve, Sweep,... to make 3D objects. Ironcad can do constrains very quickly, and direct modeling in Assembly environment, for example they can add hole, chamfer, fillet, add 3D solid,... directly in Assembly environment, but Inventor must go to each part and fix what i need. For example if I want a hole in two parts in a assembly, I have to go to one part, open it, make sketch point, add a hole, then project the hole on the other part to be sure that 2 holes are concentric, make the hole. Its wasted time. In Ironcad everything that I have to do is choose the hole, select throught all part, and then finish, 5 seconds. In Ironcad I can modeling directly in Assembly and all part just in one file. In Inventor, if I want to make an assembly, I have to create a part, save file, draw sketch, extrude, constrains,... An assembly with thousand part, each part is a file, and all of them save in a folder. When I lose just a file, you can imagine what happened.
I love Inventor because I use it for my work everyday. But since I knew about Ironcad, I used it to design my machine, but Ironcad was so badly in export drawing or draft so that I had to export the step file, import it to Inventor to correct the standard for threads, bolts, holes, ... then publish the drawing at Inventor. I think that Autodesk need to make Inventor not to 2D parameter, you need to make 3D parameter like Ironcad.
