Customizable Parts List Column Headers

Customizable Parts List Column Headers

Currently when you insert a Parts List with several Members of an iAssembly, the Column Header is "QTY" + File name of the member.

This can be manually changed for each column, but this breaks all links.

It would be great if that can be changed so any field (Description, Part Number, Custom Field...) of the member file can be used as the Column Header.

This would allow for the ideal headers (with or without the "QTY") and remain linked to the original files.

You can change the columns used in your Parts List by double-clicking your Parts List, right-clicking on a column header, and clicking "Choose Columns". You can also change the name of the headers by right-clicking a header and clicking "Format Heading". Is this what you're requesting?

Hello DRoam!

No, this is not what I'm requesting.

First, I don't want to "Choose Columns" as I want to  edit the Column Header.

Second, when you select Format Column, it opens a window where you can manually type in the Heading that by default is the Member Property of the iAssembly (Name of the file).

I don't want to manually change the heading (Column Header) as I would have to change too many columns and the moment you type in something, you loose the link to the original property.

I want to change the original Property, the default (Member, File Name).

Thanks

I'm still not sure I understand... really sorry. Could you possibly post a couple screenshots with a sample of how the Parts List looks by default, and how you want it to look?

Hi DRoam,

Please look at the image.

How would you eliminate "QTY" along with everything that doesn't change from the column titles without having to edit one by one?

How do you add the part number of each column (that represents a different assembly [iAssembly member]) without having to edit one by one?

I hope this explains it a bit more.

Hmm.. there very well might be a way to do this but I'm not familiar with Parts Lists for iAssemblies. I'd recommend posting this as a question in the General Discussion forum and seeing if anyone has any suggestions. Give it a title title something like "Change headers for iAssembly Parts Lists", since this is regarding iAssemblies specifically.
