Constrained Orbit mode for 3D mouse / SpaceMouse (keep model upright)

Inventor has the "Constrained Orbit" command that allows you to orbit around a model while always keeping it upright. For those who use a 3D mouse, it would be great to have an option to lock the model upright even when orbiting with a 3D mouse (such as the 3DConnexion SpaceMouse) instead.

This would make orbiting with a 3D mouse easier, and also result in a better-looking model orientation when creating isometric Drawing Views and taking screenshots.

Please switch from the "im assuming with how random it seams" predictive center point for orbit to a system that moves the orbit point when you pan the camera, and then add a hotkey (like period on the numpad) to switch the orbit to a selected line or object. you know, like any other 3D program. and maybe make the constrained orbit default. you know, like any other 3D program ever. it took me 3 years of searching to figure out the constrained orbit was an option. and through that searching i found that there are hundreds of others with this issue. i get the other orbit works amazingly with 3D mouses witch your hard core big company members use. but really not many people use these, let alone students of the program. it turns a relatively intuitive program into more frustration than is necessary.

Why not lock roll up and down with Shift key and lock roll left and right with Ctrl.

And I mean this from whatever view current on screen. Thus if you want to spinn exactly around X u have to begin looking at say Z or Y. And id say movement and zoom not locked.

Here’s what they say at the 3Dconnexion forums. Looks pretty easy Autodesk just do it! 😊
