Change color of Document Tabs

Change color of Document Tabs

A nice way to organize parts, assemblies, and drawings that are open within Inventor could be to add color to their respective Document Tab. Similar to Microsoft Excel, a RMB on the Document Tab could bring up an option for color, and the user could specify whatever color they desire.

An example could be a user has multiple assemblies open, and multiple parts open from each of those assemblies. Color-coding which parts came from which assemblies would be an extremely fast way to recognize what part they may need to switch to. This is especially useful if the part numbers are similar in nature.

There is a solution for your proposal in Autodesk App Store.

Hi Tyler, Denis & others.

Do you have any further info or links for the Coloring Tabs app that you mention above? It does not seem to come up with anything now?

The text in the Document Tabs in Inventor 2023's Light UI theme have for some reason been changed to grey on grey & light blue on a lighter grey - neither of which have much contrast - making them pretty much unreadable to me. I have only just upgraded from 2019, so I don't know exactly which version this was changed. Tyler's post above in March 2021 shows these same crappy colours.

If the Document Tabs colour can't be configured separately anywhere apart from having to switch the entire UI to Dark Mode, then the Tab Color app would be a good solution if it is available. Thanks, BW
