AnyCAD Support for Solid Edge

AnyCAD Support for Solid Edge

Solid Edge is a popular CAD product in significant parts of the world. Lots of Inventor users have to work with Solid Edge data daily, that's both CAD & CAM users. It's a little odd that it's been left out of the AnyCAD support. Please add support for the Solid Edge file format.

Yes agree this file type needs to be added. Solid Edge is being used in one of our company devisions so file interface is a reality for us. Thanks

The principle of AnyCAD is vauable to our business, however we require the inclusion of Solid Edge in order to realise the benefit across our Engineering and Design groups.

This would also help the Simulation Mechanial users have a work flow to get Solid Edge files into SIM MECH now that the importer was removed from that program also.

AnyCAD functionality is very useful. SolidEdge is widespread and our company collaborates with technical studies which have SolidEdge Thank you

Add me to the list. I have no idea where SE stands in the numbers of seats out there and where it ranks in size compared to others but surely it is larger than some allready in AnyCAD.

This would be very helpful, because we cooperate with a company which uses Solid Edge. Every time they change their asselmblys we have to do the import to Inventor again.

Well this is a big deal... hopefully this shiny new agreement between Autodesk and Siemens results in this idea being implemented soonish.

AnyCAD functionality is very useful, we use it nicely with SolidWorks. But we have a lof of legacy data in SolidEdge (courtesy of an acquisition), would be nice to bring them into Inventor using the same technology. I dont get why Autodesk does not want to support this asap.

Yea, it is super frustrating! I've been told that Solidedge support is on the radar though so keep voting the idea up!

This is the last CAD tool we have that I cannot directly open.

Yes, I agree.  We currently have customer case coming up, needing to facilitate a smooth transfer from Solid Edge with disk storage to Inventor with Vault Professional. We need to handle (maintain) links with S-E drawings as well. The project involves some 25-30 users and around 40k S-E files..

Fantastic! Is there a timeline for this to be included in Inventor, if there is any Beta testing needed I would be more than happy to help.

Also, will this support legacy Solidedge files, most of our files are ST3.

Hi @kab343 I have sent you a personal invite to our internal Autodesk Inventor Feedback Community.  Unfortunately we are unable to share any timelines on public forums.  Regards, Dan

This idea has been implemented within Autodesk Inventor 2018.1. You can now import Solid Edge files with an option to convert or create an AnyCAD reference. Importing a Solid Edge file as an AnyCAD reference model maintains a link to the selected file which enables you to monitor and update as the model changes. Special thanks to the author (Scott) and everyone who cast a vote for it.

YAY! Cool, thanks. I wish I'd had a copy of Solid Edge handy to test it with.
