Currently you can get to a part/subassembly drawing from an assembly browser without opening the part/subassembly model. Do you want that tool to be easier to discover?
Or do you want to open a part/subassembly drawing from the parent assembly drawing?
Select the component in the model browser or in the graphics window.
Press the right mouse button and expand out the "components" (I think... I don't have Inventor open right now) sub menu. I think it is in the same sub menu as the promote/demote commands. The command is "Open Drawing"
There are some limitations.
The drawing needs to be saved in the same folder as the part/assembly.
The drawing needs to have the same filename as the part/assembly.
This means that you must use the one-drawing-per-part/assembly workflow. Detailing several parts in the same drawing file will not work.
I added the Open Drawing command to all the various assembly radial menus. Others have made custom keyboard shortcuts.
