why do custom content center take so long to load

Should be nearly instant.

Are you using Projects?  (I recommend that you do.)

Does you Project *.ipj point to the Default Folder Options  CC path?

This is the path to the content center files in my current project. C:\Users\seanj\Documents\Inventor\Content Center Files\R2021\

I try to do a part as custom, but it keeps hanging up Inventor. Please see the attached screen shots.

Hi Sean,

You might need to install or reinstall MS Access Engine 2016. Please make sure all critical Windows updates are installed and the following procedure is performed.

I still get the access database window when I try to place a custom part from the content center. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Microsoft Access database engine 2016. What else should I do?

I don't know how to fix the root cause of this issue, but -

as a workaround, you could place CC parts As Standard (I think that is working for you) and then File>Save Copy As to your local project folder and then replace in the assembly.  I bit of extra work for sure, but this would give you local content divorced from the CC library.  For your small project it should only be a minor irritation.

Im sorry that you’re not getting the answer you’re looking for.  I’m sure that @johnsonshiue @and @JDMather are trying to find clues that will lead to an answer to your original question.  Sometimes it takes a lot of trial and error to find the root cause of a problem like the one you are having.

Can you also provide the specs of the pc you are using?

It's obvious that this is an Inventor 2021 bug. Seeing how nobody has a fix for it and JDMather told me to save the CC parts as copies to the project directory (a pain as there are at least 17 different hardware parts in this particular project), I won't be sharing this one with the forum. This is the problem with new software releases. I was hoping that Inventor 2021 was better than the 2019 version, but I guess it isn't to be so. I'll figure something out without the forum's help.

I am currently clueless about this issue. I have never heard of it before, nor is there a similar known issue in our defect system. I am checking with our project team and see if this is know.

Unfortunately, the information you provided so far isn't actionable, because we cannot reproduce the behavior. If possible, please share the custom .idcl file or the original ipt file you used to publish to custom CC library. Send them to me directly ([email protected]).

In the meantime, please make sure all critical Windows updates are installed.

I am using CC in 2021 without any issues.

I have a very large custom library that loads fast and my PC is several years old now, certainly not very fast.

There is something else causing this issue.

All that I'm trying to do is save CC parts to the project directory so when I share the final assembly in the forum, the parts load with the assembly file. That shouldn't be so difficult, but it is.

This should be as simple as going: SAVE AS > PACK AND GO. Do the search and include all linked files. This should export everything including content center parts used in an assembly.
