While Convert the IPT file to STL file, the dimension unit will not change

Greetings!

I am using Autodesk Inventor 2018. I am trying to convert my part model .ipt to .stl format. But, the dimension unit of the  STL file I am getting after conversion was changed i.e. the dimension of my .ipt file is 1 x 1 x 1 mm, while I convert it to .stl file the dimension shows me 1 x 1 x 1 inch. I changed the dimension unit to mm into the save dialog box option. But the changes were not seen.

Please find the attached .ipt and .stl file for your reference.

Please help me with this. Thank you.

Hi, Before you export to stl format, go to options and make sure that the selection box is located in "Source Units". This way, when exporting, it will take the same units from your active file. I also recommend that you check the type of resolution for your generated file, in my case I usually use "high" for a better definition when printing in 3D.

I hope this helps with your problem. Regards

Hello,

Thanks for the reply.

I have already done the steps you are suggested. But the problem remains the same. I guess it's a software issue. It should be resolved asap.

Maybe the error occurs when you try to open the stl file again with an inventor, and you don't specify the units in the same way as when converting the file to stl, then it will open the file with the units configured by default and you will have the error there.
Look at the full video, and you'll notice the difference when it changes to "Inch" in 1:26 minutes.
Personally I have never had problems working with STL format.

I hope that something here can help you solve your problem. Regards
