Hello! So when we open a dwg drawing from Vault or the Vault thin client that has a change to the .IPT or .IAM but the DWG drawing hasn't been saved and checked back in, the drawing won't show those displays. I know the root problem of not saving a DWG after the .ipt is saved is from human error, but is there a way around this?
From what I can tell, vault keeps the drawing up to date in my inventor, but if I download it and open it in trueview or autocad, it does not update it. We want to be able to open from the thin client elsewhere and be 100% sure we have the right drawing without worrying about human error. In a case with 100's of prints and an engineer forgets to resave and check in a DWG, this can cause a vendor to have an out of date DWG without anyone knowing.
I'm not sure that there is an easy setting change to manage human error.
We set up our thin client so that it only showed Released files. If the ipt/iam is released but the idw/dwg is not, then the thin client user will not be able to see the idw/dwg.
This is an "all-or-nothing" setting, so it is not possible for thin client users to see non-released files and others to see just the released files.

Hi! Based on my understanding, this behavior can happen when the assembly or the part referenced by the drawing has been changed or some properties have been updated. And the drawing needs to be updated by Inventor.
When the drawing is opened in Vault thin client (Inventor apprentice server), the drawing will look the same as the last saved drawing. But when the same drawing is opened in Inventor, the drawing will be updated.
To avoid the inconsistency, you may consider implement a process. Set the drawing to Defer Update (Tools -> Doc Settings -> Drawing -> Defer Update) before checking back in. The drawing will be frozen and no change will happen.
Or you want to make sure everything is up-to-date. On a regular basis, check out these files and use Task Scheduler to run an Update Design task to ensure all files are in sync. Then check them back in.
Many thanks!
