Visual indicator, in assembly browser, showing part is completely constrained?

Is there any setting available where, when I am in an assembly, the browser would show which parts/subassemblies are completely constrained?  Right now in order to find out, I am going to the assembly viewport, selecting the part, and moving the mouse to see if the Ø symbol comes up. If it does I know the part is fully constrained.  If it doesnt, or moves, then I know I need to add constraints to fix it.

Thanks

Hi @Borsht

Give the Degrees Of Freedom tool a try:

http://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2020/ENU/?guid=GUID-3BCBF614-CF92-4980-A965-80AEAFEF768E

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis

I appreciate that, but was hoping for a more permanent indicator, like a + or - showing up as a default in the browser tree, next to the file name.  The DOF symbols just get messy in the assembly viewport.

You can use this tool https://apps.autodesk.com/INVNTOR/en/Detail/Index?id=6524519755338237990&appLang=en&os=Win64 and its free.

As long as you are using Inventor 2018, 2019, or 2020.

What do you mean...

Its working for me in 2017..  😀

But I'm not here to promote modifying someone else program to get it to work in 2017.  Exit Inventor and download and install it.

Before launching Inventor 2017 again, go to this location C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\Hjälte ShowFullyConstraint.bundle\Contents and using notepad, open Hjalte.ShowFullyConstraint.addin and change the 21 that's there to 20.

Save the file and launch Inventor 2017, do you get a message that the add-in is blocked?   Oh by the way don't tell anybody that I told you about this...  😎

Update:  Any one that comes across what I have stated here...   It should be done at your own risk, I'm not promoting this workaround or held libel for showing this work-around and most likely you'll not get any support fromt the vendor of this add-on if you select to modify it for unsupported versions.

We know you outsource your add-in hacking work to this guy 😉

Hi! On top of what Mark and Curtis already mentioned, this is one of the workflows we are working to improve. Please feel free to sign up Inventor Beta (https://bit.ly/InventorBeta) and you can try out the latest in-development build in a browser. You can give feedback to the project team.

Many thanks!
