View representation: Enable

Could somebody please explain to me,

What happens when I enable/disable a part? It's very unclear and I cannot find the right explanation in the help files..

Basically, it makes a component non-selectable and see-through.

So, it does not have a real function towards drawing views? Like visible?

Not that i know of, no... the state doesn't even get carried over to idw/dwg, so...

The only use it has i can think of is being able to select parts that are otherwise obscured, like something inside a complex structure, and still have some reference of where it is located...
