Variable Assembly

In the Insulator Pin assembly shown below, how do I make dimension A variable so that I can mate the assembly to crossarms of variable width? I looked into creating a parameter, but they are not visible to the parent assembly.

Hi Ed.Jobe,

You can leave those parts un-constrained, then place this assembly as a subassembly and set the subassembly to be Flexible (right lick on it in the browser and choose Flexible).

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,

Hi Ed.Jobe,

Another option, if you wanted the dimension to be of set values or increments, is to set up Positional Representations in the assembly, with the constraint parameter for each set to desired value.

Then when you place this as a subassembly, you would set a positional representation in the top level active, and then choose the desired positional representation for each instance of this subassembly.

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,

Thanks, I'll look into that.
