Use AutoCAD .dwg in Inventor

I have an upcoming contract where I will be doing dust collection using AutoCAD for the 2D layouts.  When I move to Inventor, I want to be able to insert said dwg drawing into an assembly to project lines and points to create sub-assemblies of the duct work.  What would be the best way to do this.  I know I can do an underlay but it seems toonly works in the part environment.  I don't have the luxury learning Factory Design Utilities since I have a tight budget to work with on this project.  I also do not have any files to share at this time.

I would import the ACAD DWG into a sketch (or paste the geometry there), then share the sketch, create multiple solids out of the entire set, then make individual parts out of the individual solids in your master part.

Hi Samantha,

The DWG Underlay workflow is also available in an assembly. Have you tried it? It should work.

Many thanks!
