Hi @Anonymous

It looks like this file is completely corrupt and is missing several storage segments. I was not able to recover it.

Do you know how it got into this state? Can you check to see if there is a folder called OldVersions? You might be able to find the older version and restore it. If you do find it, just try opening the older version and it will prompt you to restore it.

Also, look for a .newver in your folder, just in case your save got interrupted. You could then rename that file and reopen it.

Hi Shiva,

Thanks for your quick response.

Old version folder is empty and also I tried to rename the part and opened, but still there is same error.

I am not sure what could be the problem, this is the 3rd file in this week. We have been working on these files since 2 months.

We are using these files for Inventor ETO application.

After 3 years, I am seeing this type of error only in Inventor 2019.

Regards,

Vijay

Hi @Anonymous

if you have a way to reproduce this error from scratch can you please share it and we can certainly investigate it.

is this part published by the API maybe or written out by ETO?

Thanks

Shiva

Hi Shiva,

If you can extract fx parameters and their values from corrupted part in excel, that would be great.

Else we need to create from scratch.

We are controlling suppressing/unsuppressing of features and updating user parameters through inventor ETO code.

But it will create as a new member file without disturbing the original file.

Just before another file got corrupted.

But yesterday I took backup of this file in my local machine.Even I am unable to open backup file.

Its really surprising to me.

Files are getting corrupted in some other machine, after that, I am unable to open file from my local machine (even backup file). Really I am not understanding the issue.

Attached are the files for your reference.

Vijay

Hi @Anonymous

I am afraid the parts you provided (original and renamed) are both corrupt. It's missing all of the key storage segments - which contains all the relevant design data. I could not get it to open even through the debugger (and bypassing some of the badness). Not even access the parameters or excel.

I would suggest trying to find the root cause.

1. Maybe run the ETO publish process and see if it creates these kinds of files (i.e. run the process and try reopening them).

2. Maybe when you tried to create a backup of the files or copy it to a different machine something went wrong?

3. Hard disk space - do you have enough HDD space when saving these files.

4. Even though we have had corruptions where the DC segment fails to load, this one seems special that its missing other storage segments as well.

Unfortunately, without knowing the root cause its hard to figure out where this is going wrong. So, if you can find it out that would be great and we can nail the problem down.

Thanks

-shiva

Also, can you clarify:

Are the corrupted files the factory/master files for ETO, or are they the member files?

When in "the process" did the files get corrupted?  Do you have a suspect as to what did it?

If you suspect ETO, can you (after making appropriate backups), delete the relevant member files and have ETO regenerate them?  That might identify or clear ETO as the culprit.

Also the thumbnail of one of the corrupted files showed a whole bunch of workpoints ... would you expect that?

Hi Shiva,

Below are my answers point by point.

1.  When we try to run the ETO process, we are getting the error shown in the attached image 1. Please see. Since the file is corrupted.

2. Usually everyday before leaving from office, I take back up from shared drive to my local drive. But after corrupting the file, if I try to open same file from local drive (backup file), surprisingly it didn't work.

3. I have huge free space (240 GB) in my local drive.

Hi Jon,

Thanks for joining the conversation.

1. The corrupted files are from factory/master files from ETO.

2. Yes, while "ETO process", files got corrupted.

3. Yes, we deleted all the member files and tried to run the same configuration immediately (ETO regenerated). But no use, we got same error.

Please see the attached image 2 for your reference.

Attached Image 1 shows the error which we got while ETO process.

Attached is the similar part which is working fine. Please see the attachment.

Thank you
