Unable to open files

I am doing a project using Autodesk Inventor. I sent the files to an Autodesk tutor to comment on but when he returned them I was unable to open the files. Could anyone help me with this?

3. Post screen shot of the About Autodesk Inventor box (remove  your Serial Number).

4. Start a new part file.  Create a simple cube.  Attach the cube file here.

5. Can you extract and open these files (see attached)?

Ok ...if this was me ..

I'd probably uninstall Inventor 2016 completely ..and reinstall it, with all of the updates .. Since you're a student and get it free.

I'd make sure the Tutor and you are on the exact same version of Inventor. So if he's on 2017, then you need to download 2017. ..

6. Post Screen Shot of these downloads.  (I would not even consider uninstalling/reinstalling until questions are answered.)

This thread see Post #26.

OK, so we are down to two issues.

Issue 1 you are having trouble opening files you attached in this current thread.

The files you attached in Post # 7 of this thread are Derived Components that are looking for the original files from which they were derived.  If you do File>Open they should open but will be slow to open if you don't have the parents.

Issue 2.  You cannot install the Updates for some reason.  Are you running English version of 2016?  Can you post screen shot of the downloaded Service Packs as requested earlier?

Yes sorry, I now understand why the files were not opening. I think it was because I scaled the parts via 'derive' and generating a scale factor. I then deleted the original files, which made the scaled files useless, as they need the original files to work.

See attached for the screenshot. Not sure if that is what you are looking for...

Sorry, Im not sure if you answered my last post (#25)?

No, they should still open, but might be slow or might give you a pop-up warning that the original files cannot be found.

But everyone here has successfully opened them - so they can be opened without the originals.
