Tube and pipe routing segments

Hi, Im new to Inventor but have used Solid Edge for many years. I am trying to use Tube and Pipe routing eviroment and used a similar add in with Solide Edge.

My problem is that I cannot seem to be able to join two pionts with a single 90 degress bent pipe using the automatic pipe routing, I can do this if I input the distances but not by just selecting the two pionts. I seem to always get at least 5 segments even though both pionts are on the same horizontal plane and my bend radius and distances seem to be correct. It would seem that Inventor seems to think the pionts arnt on the same plane or radius in too small but this is not the case. Is there a way to manually select how many pipe segments I want?

I have attached a image of the problem, I am working with a 1/2inch copper pipe.

Thanks in advance for you're help

I would not use autoroute.

The manual you've done looks good enough for me. Just add coincided constraints because your sketch now is not fully constrained.

Use this post as general rules for tube an pipe.

Edit:

I would start both ends. On the cooper connector straight and then 90 some distance. On the steel part straight some distance. Colinear the 90 deg line and the one from the steel part. Coincident 90 deg line end point and straight line end point. Delete the extra node created from the coincident of end line end points.
